Given the development scenario in india, ICT movement is still evolving. Many experiments are simultaneously going on to test the affectivity of ICTs at the grassroots in the realm of rural development. They are known with different names like telecentres, telecottages, information shops, knowledge centres, village information centres, virtual village hall or public information kiosks or community information centres. We have now moved from first generation ICT innovations like telephone, TV, Radio, Computers to the second generation technologies like Internet and WWW. However, the expansion is not uniform with disparities between regions in the level and quality of telecommunications, information and the effort of individuals, public and private organizations, and differentiated nature of demand. ICTs including the Internet are thereby, generating changes in market, private and public sectors and economies. In business, services and education, the changes are large and advancing in every area of economic, social and political activity. There has been a large wave of investment over the past decade in ICTs for development particularly aiming at poor people both by bringing access of ICTs to poor communities and in support of poverty reduction. As a result, there have been many successes, lessons learned and experience gained. . Some of the recent seminars held at NIRD and other organizations discussed these issues and recommended developing case libraries of successful initiatives that are ongoing or made a mark on the development to realize the Millennium Development Goal to halve the poverty by 2015.
